Baseball Game Preview: West Mesa Mustangs vs. Albuquerque Bulldogs

West Mesa is 2-8 against Albuquerque since March of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Mustangs will head out on the road to challenge the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. West Mesa is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, West Mesa came up short against Atrisco Heritage Academy and fell 6-3.

West Mesa saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Armoni Baca, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Albuquerque was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of Rio Grande. That's two games in a row now that the Bulldogs have lost by just one run.

Gabriel Pohl was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Abran Vigil, who scored a run and stole a base while going 4-for-4.

Albuquerque's loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for West Mesa, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.

West Mesa couldn't quite get it done against Albuquerque in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 as they fell 7-3. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
