Softball Recap: Apponequet Regional Comes Up Short

Apponequet Regional extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping their season record down to 8-4 in the process. They lost 9-1 to the Dighton-Rehoboth Regional Falcons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in April.

As for Dighton-Rehoboth Regional, the victory (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 17-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by seven runs or more this season.

For Dighton-Rehoboth Regional's part, Edy LaTour spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up nine Ks. LaTour has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Haleigh Kelley was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Cam Cloonan, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Apponequet Regional and Dighton-Rehoboth Regional should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Massachusetts Rankings. The Lakers (ranked 48th) will meet Fairhaven (ranked 128th) at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Dighton-Rehoboth Regional will face off against Plymouth South at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (8 vs. 99).
