East is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Wyoming's top teams: Natrona County, who was ranked 22nd at the time (East was ranked eighth). The Thunderbirds won a contest that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by the Mustangs 14-13. The Thunderbirds haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Kelly Walsh ended up a good deal behind Sheridan on Friday and lost 37-20. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

East's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Kelly Walsh, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
