Softball Game Preview: Zane Trace Pioneers vs. Waverly Tigers

The Zane Trace Pioneers will venture away from home to square off against the Waverly Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Zane Trace is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

Zane Trace lost 10-4 to Amanda-Clearcreek on Wednesday.

Zane Trace saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grace Lyon, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Another was Reagan Arthurs, who scored a run and stole a base.

Meanwhile, Waverly started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Portsmouth. They came up short against the Trojans on Wednesday, falling 13-7. The Tigers have struggled against the Trojans recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Zane Trace's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Waverly, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Zane Trace took their win against Waverly in their previous matchup back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 14-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for Zane Trace since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
