Basketball Recap: Arundel Comes Up Short

Arundel easily dispatched Chesapeake Science Point last Monday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Arundel Wildcats fell just short of the Severna Park Falcons by a score of 55-52 on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 53-48 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Arundel still got an impressive performance from Javeon Reed, who went 10-for-21 on his way to 25 points along with seven assists and six steals. With that strong performance, Reed is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game. Another player making a difference was Ellis Johnson, who went 6-for-11 to rack up 14 points.

Arundel has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season. As for Severna Park, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.

Coming up, Arundel will head out to take on Northeast at 6:00 p.m. on February 24th. As for Severna Park, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against North County at 6:00 p.m. North County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 14 contests -- so hopefully Severna Park likes a good challenge.
