Preview: Canal Winchester Indians vs. Big Walnut Golden Eagles
The Canal Winchester Indians will be playing at home against the Big Walnut Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Canal Winchester will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
Last Friday, Canal Winchester had just enough and edged Hayes out 24-21. Given Canal Winchester's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 35th, while Hayes is ranked 110th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Big Walnut got themselves on the board against Dublin Scioto on Friday, but Dublin Scioto never followed suit. They breezed by the Irish at home to the tune of 37-0. The result was nothing new for Big Walnut, who have now won four matches by 27 points or more so far this season.
Nathan Severs continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 182 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.7 yards per carry. Severs is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Ryan Eliott did his part by putting the 'special' in special teams, booting in three field goals and four extra points.
Their wins bumped Canal Winchester to 9-0 and Big Walnut to 4-5.
Canal Winchester was able to grind out a solid victory over Big Walnut in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, winning 21-14. Does Canal Winchester have another victory up their sleeve, or will Big Walnut turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
