It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Mount Si ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 15-13 victory over the Newport - Bellevue Knights. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Mount Si got a great performance from Eleanor Riley as she struck out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk).
On the hitting side, Anna Braukus was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Avery Bielenberg was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.
Mount Si's victory bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Newport - Bellevue, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.
Coincidentally, Mount Si and Newport - Bellevue will both be playing Hazen the next time they take the field. The Knights will head out to face the Highlanders at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Wildcats will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
