Basketball Recap: Norland Comes Up Short

Norland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They lost to the Cypress Bay Lightning on the road by a 53-38 margin. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 388th, while the Lightning are ranked 88th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cypress Bay to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nevia Miletti, who posted ten points and three steals. That's the most steals Miletti has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Agam Gago, who had six points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Norland's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Cypress Bay, their record now sits at 13-4.

Norland will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Dr. Krop at 7:30 p.m. on January 29th. As for Cypress Bay, they will square off against Pembroke Pines Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cypress Bay is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.8 points per game this season.
