The Buena Colts will venture away from home to square off against the Marana Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Buena is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

Things were looking good for Buena after they put the first points on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Ironwood Ridge by a score of 10-9. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Buena got a good showing from Landon Fields, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Fields has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Angel Olivarez was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. Robert (Cole) Isaacson also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Marana unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell 3-0 to San Luis on Monday.

Buena's loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Marana, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.

Buena skirted past Marana 10-9 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Will Buena repeat their success, or does Marana have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
