Basketball Recap: Eaglecrest's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to 16

With a playoff win on the line, Eaglecrest rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They walked away with a 71-61 victory over the Arvada West Wildcats. The Raptors are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 16 straight.

Eaglecrest's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ant Nettles, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 11 boards. Those 11 rebounds gave Nettles a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Garrett Barger, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine boards.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Noah Meurer, who posted 12 points and six assists. Thanks to that strong game, Meurer now owns an excellent 45.3% field goal percentage. Another player making a difference was Cooper Vais, who put up 13 points and five rebounds.

Eaglecrest pushed their record up to 23-2 with the victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Arvada West, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-7.

Looking ahead, Eaglecrest will face off against ThunderRidge on Saturday. Eaglecrest knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 23 matches -- so hopefully ThunderRidge likes a good challenge. Arvada West does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
