Rigby hasn't had much luck against Highland recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Trojans will host the Rams at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Rigby is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Canyon Ridge with a sharp 16-6 win on Saturday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Trojans as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Kace Stapleton was a standout: he scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. DJ Boudrero was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Rigby was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Highland entered their tilt with Century on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Diamondbacks a 10-0 shutout. The Rams not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since March 22nd.
Highland also got a great performance from Garrett Grayson as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over 4.1 innings pitched. The Rams are undefeated when Grayson allows two or fewer hits, but 5-8 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Cooper Colonel was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Cannon Eddie, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Highland's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Rigby, their win bumped their record up to 6-12.
