Softball Recap: Moline Maroons vs. Normal Community Ironmen

Moline had lost four straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 6-14 to make it five. They fell just short of the Normal Community Ironmen by a score of 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Maroons have suffered since March 22nd.

Bella Blundt made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Lana Edkin was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run.

As for Normal Community, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games.

Looking ahead, Moline will square off against Alleman at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Normal Community, they are taking a road trip to take on LeRoy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Ironmen's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
