Softball Recap: Interboro's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to 15

It's playoff time, and Interboro had no trouble coming through when it counted. Everything went their way against the Villa Maria Academy Hurricanes on Tuesday as they made off with an 18-8 victory. The result was nothing new for the Buccaneers, who have now won 12 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Jules Bergen made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Rudolph, who fired off three runs, three doubles, and three RBI while going 4-for-5. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Summer Burrell was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Interboro kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The win was the 15th in a row for Interboro, bringing their record up to 19-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Villa Maria Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8-1.

As of now, neither Interboro nor the Hurricanes have any future games scheduled.
