Preview: Springfield Yellow Jackets vs. Kirkwood Cobras
The Springfield Yellow Jackets will head out on the road to square off against the Kirkwood Cobras at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kirkwood took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Springfield, who comes in off a win.
Springfield scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They put the hurt on Northeast with a sharp 62-37 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Springfield has posted yet this season.
Shemauria Pope and Rayne Erickson were among the main playmakers for Springfield as the former scored 20 points and the latter dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Merritt, who scored five points along with 14 rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought match, but Kirkwood had to settle for a 41-38 defeat against Northeast on Tuesday. Kirkwood has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Springfield's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-8. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Kirkwood, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
