Baseball Recap: Tomball Kings' Luck Changes for the Better on Saturday

Tomball Kings can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Gregory-Portland Wildcats as the Tomball Kings Homeschool made off with an 11-1 win.

Tomball Kings got a great performance from Aj Rocha as he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Rocha has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jonah Irvine was a standout: he scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had over his last 13 matches. Another player making a difference was Avery Bell, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Tomball Kings always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Tomball Kings' victory bumped their record up to 7-10-1. As for Gregory-Portland, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.

Tomball Kings didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-5 defeat against Lumberton on the 8th. As for Gregory-Portland, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Gregory-Portland Wildcats duke it out with Carroll Tigers at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. Carroll has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.67 runs per game on average), something Gregory-Portland will no doubt try to take advantage of.
