Softball Recap: Arcadia Find Success

Arcadia proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by ten) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Kaiser Cats 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Apaches have posted since March 26, 2024.

Samantha Almaraz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up ten Ks. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts.

At the plate, Peyton Fox was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Nia White, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Arcadia is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. Kaiser is on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Coming up, Arcadia will be playing at home against Garfield at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Garfield has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.8 runs per game on average), something Arcadia will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Kaiser, they will take on St. Paul in a tournament on Saturday.
