Baseball Recap: South Panola Gets the Win

After losing to Grenada the last time they met, South Panola decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. South Panola walked away with a 5-1 win over Grenada on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Anson Bright spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up 12 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Owen Roebuck was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlos Robinson Jr, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

South Panola's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 10-7. As for Grenada, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 10-7.

South Panola will have a chance to go back-to-back against Grenada: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
