Basketball Recap: South Miami Takes a Loss

After soaring to 56 points the game before, South Miami was a bit more limited in their game on Saturday. They were dealt a 67-27 defeat at the hands of the Mater Academy Charter Lions. The Cobras haven't had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Mater Academy Charter found their leader in sophomore Jahi Lopez, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lopez has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jet Walis, who posted 11 points.

South Miami's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Mater Academy Charter, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-8.

South Miami will head out to take on Homestead at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Homestead is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.2 points per game this season. As for Mater Academy Charter, they will host Doral Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
