Softball Recap: Normangee Comes Up Short

If Normangee was riding high fresh off their 17-7 takedown of Centerville last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Normangee lost 19-6 to the Leon Cougars on Friday. The Panthers' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Normangee saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gracin Shaffer, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Even though they lost, Normangee was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .353 or higher in four consecutive matches.

Normangee's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Leon, their win ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-8.

Looking ahead, Normangee will square off against Grapeland at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Leon, they will head out to face off against Slocum at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
