Arundel hadn't done well against Severna Park recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Wildcats walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Falcons. The win was familiar territory for the Wildcats, who have now won five contests in a row.
Rowland Thursby made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Thursby was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Arundel got a great performance from Tahner McGriff as he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Back at the plate, Luke Gamble was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Franky Vega also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Arundel pushed their record up to 13-10 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Severna Park, the defeat snapped their winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 10-4 record.
As of now, neither Arundel nor the Falcons have any future games scheduled.
