Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Las Vegas

Chaparral came into Saturday's contest looking for another win against Las Vegas, but Tayshaun Jackson wouldn't allow it. The Las Vegas Wildcats claimed a resounding 62-28 win over the Chaparral Cowboys thanks in part to Jackson, who went 8 of 13 on his way to 21 points and three steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Las Vegas' points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Jakhai Jones, who posted six points along with six assists and three steals. Those six assists gave him a new career-high.

When it comes to explaining why Chaparral lost on Saturday, don't look at Izayah Thomas. Despite the final result, he went 6 of 11 on his way to 12 points. O?Bryan Fox was another key player, putting up seven points and six rebounds.

The victory (which was Las Vegas' third in a row) raised their record to 5-8. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.7 points per game. As for Chaparral, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6.

Las Vegas will be taking part in a tournament against Centennial at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Centennial has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Chaparral, they will venture away from home to square off against Shadow Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
