            Baseball Recap: St. Joseph Knights vs. Centennial Golden Hawks        
        
		
        
        
            St. Joseph and Centennial squared off in some playoff action  on Saturday, but St. Joseph had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Golden Hawks by a score of  9-8. The Knights were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Golden Hawks earlier this season, when they won  1-0.
  Erik Furness and  Ashton Bluem did some serious damage despite the final result:  Furness  went 2-for-4 with two  runs, two  RBI,  and one  double, while  Bluem  went 3-for-4 with one  triple, one  run,  and one  double. That  triple marked the first that  Bluem has  hit this season. Another player making a difference was  Santana Covarrubias, who  got on base  in three of his five plate appearances with one  run and one  RBI.

The  loss snapped St. Joseph's winning streak at three games  and leaves them with a 24-7 record. As for Centennial, they have  been performing  well recently as they've  won 20 of their last 24 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-7 record  this season.
 St. Joseph will look to defend their home field  on Wednesday against San Dimas  at 4:00  p.m. The two teams have allowed few  runs on average (the Knights 3.3, the Saints 2.6) so any  runs scored will be well earned. Centennial does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
