Baseball Game Preview: Brush Arcs vs. Bedford Bearcats

Brush is a perfect 4-0 against Bedford since March of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Arcs will head out to challenge the Bearcats at 7:00 p.m.

Brush is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest defeat since April 1st on Tuesday. They lost 21-0 to Riverside. The Arcs haven't had much luck with the Beavers recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Bedford ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Fuchs Mizrachi 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bearcats have posted since April 14th.

The team relied heavily on JJ Hudson, who went 2-for-5 with four stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Bedford's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-2 (and 2-4 when he doesn't). Alex Barto was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Brush's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Bedford, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Brush has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Bedford struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Everything went Brush's way against Bedford in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Brush made off with a 15-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Arcs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
