Baseball Recap: Cabrillo Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Cabrillo, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They came out on top against the Artesia Pioneers by a score of 11-6 on Wednesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Jaguars as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Ethan Flemate made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also big at the plate, earning two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Fabian Vigil, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Ricky Barron was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.

Cabrillo now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Artesia, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-12 record.

Coming up, Cabrillo will be playing at home against Woodrow Wilson at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Artesia, they will head out on the road to square off against Whitney at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.25 runs per game on average), something the Pioneers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
