League recap: St. Joseph, Shaw tied at the top

1A Region 3 league recap: 4/3/13

Shaw and St. Joseph are tied atop the standings of 1A Region 3, leaving first place open for the taking.

The Hawks outpaced the rest of the league this week, as their two total wins led the league. Shaw beat Kennedy 10-0 and Brooks 18-3.

The Fighting Irish's pitching staff had a strong showing this week, allowing only three hits and two walks, both of which led the league.

St. Joseph, the league's stolen base leader this season with 43, added to its lead in that category with 25 more steals over the past week.

The league boasted four .400 hitters over the past week. The group was paced by Arringtion Smith, who collected three hits in four at bats for a .750 average.



The week's strikeout crown belonged to Jacob Reifers, who turned in seven Ks for the Fighting Irish. He's first in the league with 28 total strikeouts.
