The Northampton Yellowjackets will face off against the Broadwater Academy Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Northampton is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 27-7 margin over King & Queen Central on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Yellowjackets in their matchups with the Royal Tigers: they've now won four in a row.
Ortavia Rogers was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, four runs, and one triple. Makiah Upshur was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI.
Northampton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .640. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Broadwater Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They never let Atlantic Shores Christian get on the board and left with a 14-0 win on Friday. Considering the Vikings have won nine matches by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Ramsey Revelle was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Broadwater Academy got a massive performance out of Ava Webb, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, one run, and one double. Those five RBI gave Webb a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tatum Watson, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.
Broadwater Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Northampton, their win bumped their record up to 3-6.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Northampton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .351. However, it's not like Broadwater Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .373. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Northampton might still be hurting after the 21-0 loss they got from Broadwater Academy in their previous meeting on April 4th. Will the Yellowjackets have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
