Basketball Game Preview: Civic Memorial Eagles vs. Mascoutah Indians

Civic Memorial hasn't had much luck against Mascoutah recently, but that could start to change on Friday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 6:00 p.m. One thing working in Civic Memorial's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests.

Civic Memorial saw some tournament action last Sunday. They wrapped up 2024 with a 66-49 win over Freeburg.

Adam Ogden went supernova for Civic Memorial, going 6 for 12 on his way to 18 points in addition to eight assists and seven steals. That's the most assists Ogden has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of August Frankford, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards.

Meanwhile, Mascoutah had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17 points) and they went ahead and made it three two weeks ago. They walked away with a 47-38 victory over the Knights.

Civic Memorial's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Mascoutah, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.

Civic Memorial took a serious blow against Mascoutah when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 65-35. Can Civic Memorial avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
