Softball Recap: Kaiser Wins Going Away Against Jurupa Hills

Kaiser had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Jurupa Hills on Wednesday. The Cats were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Spartans. For the Cats, this counts as revenge for the 15-10 win the Spartans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Vanessa Contreras made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Contreras was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with five RBI and two doubles. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Alyssa Montoya was a standout: she scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Aubree Vargas also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Kaiser always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Kaiser has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Jurupa Hills, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-7.

Coincidentally, Kaiser and Jurupa Hills will both be playing Summit the next time they take the field. The Spartans will host the SkyHawks at 3:45 p.m. on Friday, while the Cats will host them at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
