Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Winston Academy). They were the clear victor by a 15-1 margin over the Ethel Tigers on Saturday. With that win, the Patriots brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Jayson McMillin made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base.

In other pitching news, King Ashford looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Winston Academy got a massive performance out of Ben Caperton, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs Caperton has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Owen Woodward, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Winston Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .679. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Winston Academy now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Ethel, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Winston Academy has already played their next matchup, a 7-3 victory against East Rankin Academy on the 24th. As for Ethel, they will welcome Kosciusko at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
