Basketball Game Preview: Monroe Golden Tornadoes vs. Colquitt County Packers + How To Watch

The Monroe Golden Tornadoes and the Colquitt County Packers will compete for holiday cheer at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Monroe knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Colquitt County likes a good challenge.

On Saturday, Monroe was fully in charge, breezing past Columbus 72-40. The Golden Tornadoes have beaten the Blue Devils the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Blue Devils has come to flipping the script.

It was another big night for Brayden Burns, who shot 67% from the field to rack up 12 points along with seven boards and six steals. Burns is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Terry, who went 5-for-6 on his way to 12 points.

Meanwhile, Colquitt County scored the most points they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of Dougherty by a score of 63-60. The loss continues a trend for the Packers in their meetings with the Trojans: they've now lost five in a row.

Colquitt County's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Monroe, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.

Monroe was able to grind out a solid victory over Colquitt County in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, winning 65-54. Do the Golden Tornadoes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Packers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
