Softball Recap: Tuesday's Defeat Ends Ironton's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Ironton unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Rock Hill Redmen by a score of 4-2. Having soared to a lofty 20 runs in the game before, the Fighting Tigers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Ava Bihl spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Aubrey Ferguson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Ironton's loss dropped their record down to 16-4. As for Rock Hill, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-9.

Looking ahead, Ironton will challenge Gallia Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Rock Hill, they are taking a road trip to square off against Fairland at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Redmen are facing the Dragons at the right time seeing as the Dragons are stuck on a 16-game losing streak.
