Basketball Recap: Pope John Paul II Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Father Ryan

On Saturday, Pope John Paul II faced Father Ryan in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Pope John Paul II Knights fell to the Father Ryan Irish 53-49. The game marked the Knights' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Osby Cavin, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 15 points and four steals. The contest was Cavin's third in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Pearson, who posted ten points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists.

Pope John Paul II's loss dropped their record down to 27-4. As for Father Ryan, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 20-8.
