Baseball Recap: First Academy Takes a Loss

First Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 21-19 heartbreaker at the hands of the Tavares Bulldogs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Eagles have suffered since March 21st.

Caiden Wilcox made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 3-for-6. He has become a key player for First Academy: the team is 7-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Collin Herrell, who scored two runs while going 4-for-6.

First Academy's record now sits at 10-7. As for Tavares, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-13.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. First Academy will square off against St. John Lutheran at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Saints have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season. As for Tavares, they will challenge Pine Ridge at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
