Recap: Wharton Wildcats vs. Lennard Longhorns
The Wharton Wildcats can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent match on Tuesday. They blew past Lennard, posting a 54-20 win on the road. Given Wharton's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while Lennard is ranked 458th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wharton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nina Green, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Maggio, who scored nine points along with five steals.
Several Longhorns players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kyah Vance, who scored nine points. Another player making a difference was Kimora Davis, who scored six points.
Wharton's victory bumped their record up to 16-1. As for Lennard, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.
Wharton will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Strawberry Crest at 6:30 p.m. on January 17th. Strawberry Crest and Wharton are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads. As for Lennard, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Plant City at 6:30 p.m.
