Softball Recap: Wheaton North's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

Wheaton North dropped their record down to 24-9 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell 5-2 to the Oswego Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-12 back in May.

Hannah Wulf was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Reagan Crosthwaite made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

As for Oswego, they pushed their record up to 35-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games.

On Oswego's side, Jaelynn Anthony spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kennedy Gengler, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

As of now, neither Wheaton North nor Oswego have any future games scheduled.
