Baseball Game Preview: Las Plumas Thunderbirds vs. Oroville Tigers

For the second straight game, Las Plumas will face off against Oroville. The Thunderbirds will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Las Plumas is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.

Las Plumas' pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Oroville with a sharp 8-0 win. That's two games straight that the Thunderbirds have won by exactly eight runs.

Bryson Hutcheson was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Las Plumas is 4-1-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-7 otherwise. Hutcheson was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other pitching news, Jacob Thaute looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (two).

Back at the plate, Wyatt Denton and Colton Rosauer did most of the damage at the plate: Denton got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Rosauer went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Las Plumas is 2-1 when Rosauer posts three or more hits, but 6-7-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Moreno, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Oroville's loss dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Las Plumas, the victory got them back to even at 8-8-2.
