Baseball Recap: Northeast Guilford Gets the Win

Northeast Guilford's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past the Atkins Camels 15-14. The high-scoring effort was just what the Rams needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

The team relied heavily on Micah Wilson, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. Northeast Guilford is undefeated when Wilson posts two or more runs, but 4-9 otherwise. Logan Wray also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Northeast Guilford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win got Northeast Guilford back to even at 9-9. As for Atkins, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.

Northeast Guilford will face off against Dudley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rams' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 10.7 runs per game this season. As for Atkins, they will head out to face off against Eastern Guilford at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Camels are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
