Softball Recap: Elkhorn's Winning Streak Snapped at Seven Games

Elkhorn dropped their record down to 9-3 on Saturday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins. They fell 3-0 to the Oconomowoc Raccoons. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Elks of the 7-6 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Elkhorn saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ellie Jacobson, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

As for Oconomowoc, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games.

On Oconomowoc's side, Kelsey Yambor made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Yambor has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Macy Brazelton was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

Looking ahead, Elkhorn will head out to face off against Union Grove at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Broncos will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Elks surely won't give up without a fight. As for Oconomowoc, they will host Lake Mills at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Raccoons are facing the L-Cats at the right time seeing as the L-Cats are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
