Softball Recap: Maconaquah Comes Up Short

Maconaquah extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 1-5 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 10-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Oak Hill Golden Eagles. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Braves have suffered against the Golden Eagles since April 13, 2017.

Shaela Brazzel was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Kasey Murry was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

As for Oak Hill, they now have a winning record of 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted against Maconaquah since April 12, 2018.

On Oak Hill's side, Jolee Hawkins was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Hawkins has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ry-Ry Myers, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Maconaquah will take on Logansport in a tournament on Saturday. The Braves will need to watch out since the Berries have now posted at least ten runs in their last four matchups. As for Oak Hill, they are taking a road trip to square off against Peru at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
