Basketball Recap: Purchase Line Comes Up Short

Purchase Line was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They were dealt a 71-39 defeat at the hands of the Homer-Center Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Red Dragons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 669th, while the Wildcats are ranked 330th).

Despite the loss, Purchase Line saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jacob Stein posted 13 points. Those 13 points gave Stein a new career-high. Jakob Mountain was another key player, putting up six points and four steals.

Homer-Center was led to victory by Angelo Alexander and Max Voyda. Alexander dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards, while Voyda went 6 of 10 en route to 19 points and six rebounds. Alexander has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Nash Budner, who scored six points and five rebounds.

Purchase Line's defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Homer-Center, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.

Purchase Line will welcome Penns Manor at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Homer-Center, they will head out to take on Marion Center at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Marion Center's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests.
