Preview: Maple Heights Mustangs vs. Mayfield Wildcats
The Maple Heights Mustangs will head out on the road to challenge the Mayfield Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mayfield took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Maple Heights, who comes in off a win.
Last Thursday, Maple Heights didn't have too much trouble with East Tech on the road as they won 47-30. The win made it back-to-back wins for Maple Heights.
Maple Heights found their leader in underclassman Brooklyn Dillard, who scored 21 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Treasure Cistrunk, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Mayfield lost to Riverside at home by a decisive 69-50 margin on Saturday. Mayfield has struggled against Riverside recently, as their contest on Saturday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Maple Heights is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. As for Mayfield, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-10.
Maple Heights was dealt a bruising 54-18 defeat at the hands of Mayfield when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Can Maple Heights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
