Baseball Game Preview: La Vernia Bears vs. Cuero Gobblers

La Vernia has won four straight games at home, while Cuero has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Bears will welcome the Gobblers at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Monday, La Vernia made easy work of John F. Kennedy and carried off a 10-1 win. The Bears haven't had any issues with the Rockets recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, while Cuero put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Gonzales. The Gobblers blew past the Apaches 20-0. The Gobblers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Cuero has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for La Vernia, their victory bumped their record up to 17-6.

La Vernia came out on top in a nail-biter against Cuero when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. Do the Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Gobblers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
