Softball Game Preview: Randolph Rams vs. West Milford Highlanders

The Randolph Rams will head out to face off against the West Milford Highlanders at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Randolph's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so West Milford's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Randolph is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Jersey's top teams: Hunterdon Central, who was ranked seventh at the time (Randolph was ranked 24th). The Rams took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Red Devils on Saturday. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Rams couldn't push the score so high this time.

Breanna Colburn was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off 11 hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

Meanwhile, West Milford was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against Paramus, falling 15-4.

West Milford saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lydia Paget, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Randolph's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3. As for West Milford, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.
