Basketball Recap: Amite Comes Up Short

Amite extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 7-13. They were outmatched by the French Settlement Lions and fell 63-27. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while the Lions are ranked 14th).

As for French Settlement, they pushed their record up to 24-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 17 contests by 23 points or more this season.

Leading French Settlement to victory were Stella Allison and Braidy Trabeau. Allison shot 46% from the field on her way to 17 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals, while Trabeau went 6-for-13 en route to 17 points along with five boards and four steals. The game was Trabeau's third in a row with at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenna Miles, who posted four points.

Looking ahead, Amite will welcome Albany at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for French Settlement, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 55-15 victory against Northlake Christian on the 6th.
