Basketball Recap: Birmingham Comes Up Short

Birmingham came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They were beaten by the Chatsworth Chancellors 79-48. The Patriots have struggled against the Chancellors recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Chatsworth got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Alijah Arenas out in front who went 13-for-19 en route to 30 points and six boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Arenas has scored at least a third of Chatsworth's points. Another player making a difference was V'Elijah Miller, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 12 assists.

Birmingham's defeat dropped their record down to 15-12. As for Chatsworth, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season.

Birmingham has already played their next game, a 60-41 loss against Westchester on the 19th. As for Chatsworth, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 62-51 win against Fairfax on the 19th.
