Baseball Recap: Menasha Triumphs

Menasha lost to New London back in April, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Bluejays won by a run and slipped past the Bulldogs 6-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bluejays.

Jacob Coopman made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Menasha is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-5 otherwise. Coopman was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one double, and one RBI. That RBI was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Owen Aykens was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Jake Osentoski was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run.

Menasha always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Menasha's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for New London, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Coincidentally, Menasha and New London will both be playing Seymour the next time they take the field. The Bluejays will host the Thunder at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Bulldogs will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
