West Cabarrus is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Mooresville is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Wolverines will welcome the Blue Devils at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Wednesday, West Cabarrus needed a bit of extra time to put away Mount Pleasant. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Tigers 5-3.
Turner Boone looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Josh Marlow was excellent, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. West Cabarrus is undefeated when Marlow posts two or more runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Cage Love, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI.
The home team had come away the winner the last seven times Mooresville and A.L. Brown had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Blue Devils walked away with a 10-5 win over the Wonders on Friday. The game was the first time the Blue Devils have beaten the Wonders on their field since April 12, 2022.
Talon Russ looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).
On the hitting side, Dawson Bennett was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Cole Harvey was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Mooresville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive games.
West Cabarrus' victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-8. As for Mooresville, their win bumped their record up to 12-5.
West Cabarrus was able to grind out a solid victory over Mooresville when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 7-4. Will the Wolverines repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
