Softball Game Preview: Patuxent Panthers vs. Great Mills Hornets

Patuxent is a perfect 10-0 against Great Mills since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Panthers will venture away from home to take on the Hornets at 4:30 p.m.

Patuxent was handed a 12-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Great Mills 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted since April 26, 2024.

Hannah Bruno was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Bruno wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Rose Harrell, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Shannon Rullman also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Patuxent's record now sits at 3-9. As for Great Mills, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-11.
