Softball Recap: Northeast Vikings vs. Leto Falcons

With a playoff game on the line, Northeast rose to the challenge on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Leto Falcons a 15-0 shutout. Considering Northeast has won nine matchups by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Danielle Brunner looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive pitching appearances.

At the plate, Lashell Roberts was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Baylie Dorr, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3.

Northeast is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Leto, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 13 of their last 15 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season.

Northeast will be playing at home against St. Petersburg at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
