Basketball Recap: Chattahoochee County Starts Season with Win at Home + How To Watch

Chattahoochee County took care of business in their home opener on Saturday. They came out on top against the Shaw Raiders by a score of 67-60. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 64-45 win the Raiders walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2024.

Chattahoochee County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ana'Zhon (Bam) Purnell, who shot 78% from the field en route to 19 points. Another player making a difference was Curtis (Champ ) Simpson, who went 7-for-12 on his way to 19 points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Chattahoochee County was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Shaw's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alenzo Talley, who posted 15 points and five steals. Bryson Denson was another key player, dropping a double-double with 17 points and ten rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Shaw and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Coincidentally, Chattahoochee County and Shaw will both be playing Russell County the next time they take the court. The Panthers will head out to face the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Raiders will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
